People like me, mostly sad and overwhelmed due to lack of enough volunteers and funds. For every one we each help there are many many more that slip through the cracks in our currently fragmented approach to animal rescuing. And with this fragmentation, many of us are in agony as we do what we can and force ourselves to close our eyes and turn our heads, to what we can't do anything about. Rescuing is a mixed blessing, feeling good about helping the animal and sick inside at our limitations. And educating our youth about the loving and loyal spirits of animals, so that we will never again see a video of a young soldier with no respect for "life of an animal" holding a helpless and trusting "puppy" up in the air and with one hand tossing it over a cliff to it's merciless death! I am still sick to my bones with that image in my head and heart. And finally, we have a future goal, (Mycpr.org begins now, March 21, 2009) someday we want to organize an administrative agency that is funded by ourselves and others who desire to help. This agency will be designed to work on local levels to pull together veteranarians, private rescue operations, animal shelters, volunteers, etc. to provide a more uniform presence highly advertised in the communities, all for the aid and benefit of our fellow animals. If people didn't have to pay to adopt a pet or give one up that they can't keep, there would be fewer and NO homeless animals on the streets. Provide funds for more sterilization, vacinations, identifying microchips, free education to youth and adults..... Right now, all these individuals are doing all they can on an individual basis and are overwhelmed. We wish to organize a more highly visible effort on the behalf of the local animal population and the community that feels overwhelmed. Everything would be on an organized donation basis, providers and individuals. NO KILL solutions. Then we would like this agency to spread to more and more cities all across the US.
